Thomas Bjorn rolled in a 12-foot birdie on the first playoff hole at the Omega European Masters to slam the door emphatically shut on another clutch Tour win for Callaway.
The longtime staffer relied on a full bag of Callaway clubs and an Odyssey Tank #7 Putter to clinch his 14th career European Tour win and move to eighth place in the Race to Dubai standings.
Bjorn’s winning bag included a Callaway Driver, Irons, an X Hot 3-wood, HEX Black Tour Ball and two X Utility Prototype Irons (18° and 21°). His victory on Sunday provided the highlight of a ridiculously consistent season that’s included seven top-10s and four top-4 finishes. The guy’s a certified top-10 machine.
He was in contention all week, and Bjorn went out in 31 on Sunday to charge up the leaderbord. After posting a final round 65 to reach 20-under, he earned a spot in a two-man playoff with fellow Callaway Staff Pro Craig Lee. On the first hole of sudden death, Bjorn’s downhill birdie putt caught the right edge and dropped in to officially close out a wild Sunday at Crans-sur-Sierre GC.
Bjorn can now add his name to the list of recent Callaway winners like Phil Mickelson, Gary Woodland, Patrick Reed, Trevor Immelman and Ernie Els. Our guys continue to win on Tours all over the world and it looks like they’re performing at their absolute best when tournaments are on the line! It’s a fun trend to watch.
Congratulations Thomas on a great win!
