Our Callaway staffers have made news all week at the Northern Trust Open, from Phil Mickelson’s new fairway woods, to Ernie Els’ Versa Putter and Sang-Moon Bae’s quick jump up the leaderboard. Let’s get right to it.
Mickelson Puts In New X Hot and RAZR Fit Xtreme Fairway Woods
After testing fairway woods for the past several weeks, Mickelson has put in an X Hot Prototype 3-wood and a RAZR Fit Xtreme 5-wood this week. Lefty first tested X Hot after one of his rounds at the Farmer’s Insurance Open, and his new RAZR Fit Xtreme Fairway Wood will nicely complement the RAZR Fit Xtreme Driver he used to win two weeks ago. The four-time major winner has also put an Odyssey Versa #9 White/Black/White Putter in play at Riviera.
Els Puts New Versa Putter In The Bag
It seems that at every Tour stop more big name players are making the switch to Versa, and this week we can add Ernie Els to that list. The Big Easy is gaming a new custom #7 Black/White/Black Belly model that he’s worked on with Odyssey Principal Designer Austie Rollinson. Rollinson tweeted a picture of Ernie with his new putter on Wednesday.

Bae Leads With RAZR Fit Xtreme
Callaway staffer Sang-Moon Bae is in the lead right now thanks to a brilliant second round with his RAZR Fit Xtreme Driver (9.5°) and HEX Black Tour Ball. Bae birdied his first four holes and moved into a two-shot lead after making birdie on the 6th hole (his 15th of the day). He, Mickelson and Els are all using a RAZR Fit Xtreme Driver this week.
