Augusta is home to the most famous greens in golf and at the year’s first major, the world’s best players trusted Odyssey more than any other putter brand. The #1 Putter in Golf led the official count with 32 total putters in play; the next nearest competitor had 20. From Tank, to White Hot Pro and the ProType line, our putters made a huge impact inside the tournament ropes. And of course, Versa reached another personal milestone too.
Versa was the #1 new putter model at Augusta, where players like Phil Mickelson (#9 Black), Ernie Els (#7 90 White Belly), Freddie Jacobson (#7 BWB) and a number of other star players used these models during the week. We’re fired up to see this level of recognition for Versa, and as if its popularity on Tour wasn’t enough, it also took home a clutch win on Sunday…
Versa Wins WNB Golf Classic
While our entire line of Versa Putters made a statement at Augusta, a Versa 90 #7 White rallied for a one-shot win on the Web.com Tour. To say that Versa was is in the mix at the WNB Golf Classic would be a severe understatement, just take a look at the final leaderboard:
That’s four Versas and six Odyssey Putters in the top-7! With all these impressive numbers, it’s no surprise that we lead all putter brands with 14 wins across the six major worldwide Tours this year. For more on all of Odyssey’s Tour success, please visit our updated Tour page.
Lee Now 15th On Web.com Money List
With his high finish, Lee moved up three spots to 15th place on the Web.com money list. The Callaway staffer has now posted three top-10s in six starts, the most of any Web.com player this year. He’s currently playing a RAZR Fit Xtreme Driver (9.5°), RAZR Fit Xtreme 3-wood, RAZR X Muscleback Irons and a new HEX Chrome+ Golf Ball, and if he keeps this up he’ll earn his PGA Tour card for 2014.
Els Works On RAZR Fit Xtreme Fairway Woods At Augusta
Last week, Ernie Els tested a RAZR Fit Xtreme 3-wood (15°) and 5-wood (18°) prior to the first round at Augusta. He said the 18° was much easier to work both ways compared to his gamers, and the launch angles fit right in his visual window. His manager soon came back to the Callaway Tour Trailer and said that Els loved the 5-wood and wanted a 3-wood to match.
Els thought the 3-wood worked great on the range and during practice rounds, and he ultimately put both fairway woods in play. This was a big switch for the four-time major winner, who used X-Tour Green Fairway Woods for the better part of 5 years, and his RAZR Fit Xtreme gamers performed well during his T13 finish. Check out the latest Callaway Tech Talk to learn more about Ernie’s new clubs.
