This is the week. Can you smell what the Harry is cooking? The only thing you’ve smelled from me lately is the fecund stench of failure coming from my picks. If this were a fight, they’d have stopped it.
If this were a little league game, they’d have had to call it because of the 10 run rule. If this were one of HashtagChad’s college dates, she’d have already gotten her friend to call her and pretend she needed to leave early to attend to a sick aunt. Over. Donesville.
But just like opening day this week in MLB, hope springs eternal and I come to this week’s picks with a 3 pack of picks I think can win the #zoocrew picks pennant.
Here they are:
Luke List. He’s had a slow first quarter of the year, but talent rises to the top. Put List at the top of the list.
Andres Gonzales. He’s way overdue. He plays better when it’s warm and last time I checked, it gets warm in San Antonio.
Stuart Appleby. I think with his “SA” initials, he has to do well in “SA.”
There you have it, folks. List, Gonzales, or Appleby will be raising the Golden Refinery.
List – Harry has been picking Luke every week, and I think he is holding him back. I am going to pick him for a win this week to balance out the Arnett curse. He’s also really good and knows how to close when he’s in the hunt.
Freddie Jacobson - Having a great year and has to be flying high after getting an invitation to The Masters. Look for him down the stretch in Texas.
Hahn – Would be a great addition to the field next week, and is just crazy enough to win and get in. Seems to rise to the occasion on big stages, and none bigger than winning and punching your ticket to paradise.
Luke List is my first pick. Anticipate the second longest hitter on the PGA Tour to collect tons of #Xbomb patches this week and find himself at the top of the leaderboard.
Continuing on the distance theme my second pick is Gary Woodland, the third leading Driver on Tour. Expect good things from Gary this week since he does not have to worry about his Jayhawks any longer in the Tournament.
My final pick for this week is Jim Furyk who will manage his way around the course and word has hit he has a new bag setup this weekend that has worked well in the past for a Callaway staffer in April. (More on that in this week’s Callaway Tech Talk. Stay tuned)

Jeff’s Picks: Jacobson, Furyk, Colt Knost
The Final Word
This venue typically plays as one of the most difficult on Tour, so don’t expect a birdie binge from anyone in the field this week. When the wind comes up and the scoring’s high, the guys who can work the ball and make clutch putts will be at a big advantage.
Knost and Furyk can hit fairways with the best of ‘em and few can match Jacobson’s prowess on the putting greens this year. Look for the winning score to be single digits under par, and look for these three to fight for The Golden Refinery (as Harry calls it) this weekend.
The Final Word
Luke List gets the biggest backing from our crew and Freddie is a popular pick as well. It’s a pretty appetizing event with Augusta now just a week away.
